DESCRIPTION:
Barometers- 2 (Two) World War II era gimbal-mounted mercurial barometers for U.S. Navy Bureau of Ships: (1) Julian P. Friez, Baltimore, Maryland, brass body, mounted in a gray painted brass box, Navy tag dated 1942. (2) W. M. Welch Scientific Company, Chicago, Illinois, brass body with thermometer, mounted in a gray painted copper box, Navy tag dated 1943.
CONDITION:
(1) Brass case glass is absent. Steel case with oxide and wear from heavy use. Instrument itself is very dusty. There is a long split in the lower half of the brass instrument body. (2) Copper box has dents and scratches. Instrument body with a nice old patina. Instruments contain some mercury. Hand delivery is recommended.
